The Solid State Logic XL-Desk with empty 500 Series slots is a modern take on the classic analog studio console. Designed for tracking and mixing engineers who want an authentic analog workflow within a DAW-centered studio, XL-Desk delivers SSL’s renowned sound without the need for integrated DAW control or automation.
In many ways, it’s a traditional 24 into 8 analog console, but equipped with a host of advanced features. It offers 20 channel strips—16 dual-input mono (switchable between main input and DAW return) and 4 stereo channels. The first eight channels feature SSL’s Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) mic preamps.
A built-in 18-slot 500-series rack offers flexible analog processing options—16 slots are empty in this version, while slots 17 & 18 include the legendary SSL Stereo Bus Compressor (hard-wired to Mix A). Four Mix Busses (A, B, C, D) provide versatile routing and summing flexibility, while direct outputs on every channel enable convenient stem printing.
With a comprehensive monitoring section, bass management, and dual foldback systems with talkback, the XL-Desk provides everything needed for professional tracking, mixing, and summing — all with SSL’s signature SuperAnalogue™ sound quality.
